“Ravelry is a community site, an organizational tool, and a yarn & pattern database for knitters and crocheters.”

I joined Ravelry two years ago, and I’m so glad I did!  It’s the perfect site for knitters and crocheters to share ideas and patterns.  Many of the patterns are free, and there are hundreds of groups to join (with endless themes) which provide the opportunity to chat with people who share your interests.  One of the groups that I joined recently is called “Dishcloths R Us”, where I opted to participate in February’s monthly “swap”…an event where you agree to send your assigned partner a handmade dishcloth/washcloth, along with a postcard of your choosing.

My February partner is a lovely Dutch woman who lives in the U.K., and this is the cloth that I made for her:

The group’s moderator offers pattern suggestions, and I chose this “Large Heart Lace Washcloth” because my partner commented that she loved February’s patterns.  I used Lily Sugar ‘n Cream yarn in her favorite color, yellow!

What follows is my (yet another) obsession:

They’re quick and easy to make, so I keep going.  The next three are for a friend’s newborn baby boy:

Here’s one that I crocheted:

And……..since I had the yarn in my stash………(maybe one for me :o)

I’ve signed up for March, so I’ll be continuing with my washcloth madness.

In the meantime, I anxiously await the arrival of my special gift from my new friend and swap-partner, Cybèle.

***UPDATE***

The package from Cybèle arrived yesterday (2/28) –

So pretty!  The pattern is called “beach comber” and I just love the shade of blue.  She included a post card of her favorite vacation spot, along with a Belgian chocolate fossil (which will not last very long!)

I’ll bet you already have a talent that includes learning how to knit! I’m up for a lesson, if you are 😉

BTW, don’t I pass the “birthday ball” to you? hmmmmmmmm…

My wonderful Aunt Caroline used to knit washcloths for everyone in the family. They’re almost too nice to use!
